In class we discussed views on rasicm in our lifetime. One question that came up was, do you think racism is learned?. I believe that a person is brought up to hate another person. When we are born we are born not knowing anything. We do not know about problems in the world when we are born. I think the family you are in is a big part of who you are and become. All people should be viewed as equal but history plays a big role in that. So a child will find out about racism even if the child is not taught it.
Unit 2 will be very interesting.
I agree with you that racism really isn't "learned", it is the way you are brought up and has to deal with your surroundings. Both The Bluest Eye and American Born Chinese show true racism and discrimination in their text.
